You didn’t want to go to college and bury yourself in student loan debt for the rest of your life? I don’t blame you! As tuition costs skyrocket, more people are opting to go through life degree-free, and a lot of them are absolutely killing it. Companies like Apple, Netflix, and Google are dropping their college degree requirements for potential employees, and it seems like you really just don’t need a degree anymore. Some of my most successful friends don’t have them, and if you have a high school diploma, you are ready to make some money.
- Media Equipment Technician
Average annual pay: $80,000
Media equipment technicians install and repair media systems for businesses and individuals. All you need is a high school diploma, but having a certification in electrical installation or a related field will help you get the job easier. On-the-job training is usually fairly short-term, so you can start making money quickly.
- Commercial Pilot

Commercial pilots might fly crop dusting planes, company executives, charter flights, or conduct aerial tours. To become a commercial pilot, you’ll need a high school diploma and a commercial pilot’s license through an FAA-certified flight school. You’ll need roughly 250 hours of flight time to get your license.
- Elevator Technician

Police sergeants manage the activities of their police force. It takes several years of fieldwork to get to this position, and you’ll have a lot of responsibility. The job can be extremely rewarding but also difficult mentally and physically.

Nuclear technicians manage the control rods of nuclear reactors, monitor the reactor generator, and cooling system to ensure safe operation. You only need a high school diploma, but there’s a ton of extensive on-the-job training and a licensing exam. Unfortunately, the number of nuclear technician jobs is expected to decline significantly in the next couple of years.
- Warehouse Manager
